Warranty & Liability

Last updated: 1 January 2026

Luxci provides the following commercial warranty on its products, in addition to — and without prejudice to — the statutory rights available to consumers under Belgian law and Directive (EU) 2019/771 on the sale of goods. This commercial warranty applies to professional Buyers (B2B) and, where applicable, to end-consumers via the original point of sale.

1. Warranty period

Unless expressly stated otherwise on the datasheet or order confirmation:

— Luxci luminaires (mechanical body, optics, finish): five (5) years from the date of the original Luxci invoice.
— LED drivers, DALI/Casambi/DMX interfaces and control modules: three (3) years from the date of the original Luxci invoice.
— Batteries, emergency modules and consumables: one (1) year from the date of the original Luxci invoice.
— Custom, made-to-measure or project-specific finishes: two (2) years from the date of the original Luxci invoice, unless stated otherwise in writing.

2. Scope of the warranty

The warranty covers defects in materials and workmanship that appear during normal architectural use, when the product is operated within the electrical, thermal, mechanical and environmental parameters stated on the datasheet (including nominal voltage, ambient temperature Ta, IP rating, IK rating, and prescribed dimming or control equipment).

The warranty covers, at Luxci's option, either the repair or the replacement of the defective product or of the defective component, or a credit note or refund limited to the original invoiced value of the affected product.

3. LED-specific warranty conditions

For LED luminaires, the warranty additionally covers a lumen depreciation greater than L80B10 at 50,000 hours, measured at the nominal operating conditions stated on the datasheet. Failures are considered warrantable when more than ten percent (10%) of the LEDs in a single luminaire fail during the warranty period.

4. Exclusions

The warranty does not cover:

— Damage caused by improper installation, non-compliance with the datasheet, or failure to observe the prescribed wiring diagram.
— Damage caused by mains voltage irregularities, over-voltage, surges, lightning strikes, incorrect neutral wiring, or unstable power supply.
— Damage caused by incompatible dimming, control or transformer equipment not approved by Luxci for use with the product.
— Mechanical damage, impact damage, scratches to finishes after handover, water ingress beyond the published IP rating, salt-spray corrosion, chemical exposure or vandalism.
— Cosmetic wear-and-tear such as fading of exterior finishes exposed to direct sunlight over long periods, or oxidation of untreated exterior metals when specifically requested by the Buyer.
— Damage caused by fire, flood, storms, earthquakes or other force-majeure events.
— Products that have been modified, repaired, opened or serviced by anyone other than Luxci or a Luxci-authorised service partner.
— Consumable items whose useful life has expired through normal use.

5. Warranty claim procedure

Warranty claims must be submitted through the original point of sale (Luxci distributor, installer or specifier). The claim must include: a copy of the original invoice, the product reference and SKU, the date of installation, a description of the defect, and, where reasonably possible, photographs and the results of any on-site diagnostic. Luxci may request that the defective product be returned for analysis prior to accepting the claim.

Warranty replacements do not extend the original warranty period. The warranty on a repaired or replaced product runs for the remainder of the original warranty period.

6. Costs not covered

Except where mandatory law provides otherwise, the warranty covers only the cost of the repair or replacement of the defective product itself. The following costs are not covered and remain the responsibility of the Buyer or the end-user: de-installation and reinstallation, access equipment (scaffolding, lifts, cherry-pickers), commissioning, transport of the defective product to Luxci, transport of the repaired or replacement product to the site (beyond standard shipment), and any consequential downtime or business loss.

7. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, and except in cases of fraud, wilful misconduct or gross negligence, Luxci's total aggregate liability arising out of or in connection with any product, order or contract shall be limited to the invoiced value of the products concerned by the claim.

Luxci shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, punitive or consequential damages, including but not limited to loss of profit, loss of revenue, loss of business, loss of contracts, loss of goodwill, loss of data, business interruption, cost of substitute products, cost of reinstallation, or cost of access equipment.

8. Product liability

Luxci maintains product liability insurance in accordance with Directive 85/374/EEC on liability for defective products and its Belgian implementation. Nothing in this warranty limits Luxci's liability for death or personal injury caused by a defective product, or for any other liability which cannot be excluded or limited under mandatory law.

9. Consumer rights

If the Buyer is a consumer as defined by Belgian and EU law, this commercial warranty applies in addition to — and does not affect — the statutory two-year conformity guarantee under Belgian Book VI of the Code of Economic Law and Directive (EU) 2019/771. Consumers may exercise their statutory rights free of charge against the seller.
